We all need one or the other media player for our use. There are tons of media players available both as Free & Paid. But it is very difficult to find one good player which caters to all our media needs such as most audio/video types support, support for HD movies/clips, cutting/merging of HD videos, and Excellent performance.
Today I would like to introduce you all to one of the best available media player, Splash. It comes from Mirillis. Splash player comes in 3 flavors – Splash Lite, Splash PRO and Splash PRO EX. Out of these three, Splash Lite is available for free, while the other two are paid. A detailed comparison between all three is available in the link below:

I’m going to review Splash PRO EX version 1.13.0.

Splash PRO EX (SPE) is a true Next-Generation player as it supports a multitude of latest video and audio files, HD videos; hardware accelerated video decoding, and Smart Seek.
SPE supports technologies such as Intel Clear Video, nVidia Pure Video HD, ATI Avivo UVD, and Broadcom Crystal HD.
A full set of features could be accessed via below link:

Splash PRO EX – Interface

The player’s interface is quite intuitive, compact, stylish, user friendly, clean, soothing to eyes and incredibly fast (as shown below).
The panel at the bottom center features options such as play, next/previous and stop buttons, playlist button and the playback options button. It has loop and sound control options. It also shows the current time in the right-most extreme corner.
You can either set your own presets for Playback or use the default provided preset as shown below. I haven’t seen such a set of settings in any other player so far.
Video and Audio:

Another very mind-blowing feature is the stylish fading-effect menu that appears on the interface when the mouse pointer is moved to the upper part in the video area. The menu has 7 buttons, namely, Open file, Open folder, Subtitles, Settings, Playback options, HD Camcorder and Export. Very neat and extremely easy access to what you need.

Additionally, it supports drag and drop, for audio/video and for subtitle files.
Another stylish thing I noticed on the interface is the super-cool blue arrow which has a moving reflection.
Playlist is another most widely used feature. Here in SPE it features a plus and a minus (adding/removing a playlist file), while for adding items to the playlist you can just drag the file in it. The clear playlist, export (save) and import (load) options are also very useful. The “Change mode” button helps easy switching between a simple list view and a picture view (picture from the video and includes some basic information about the video file).
Splash PRO EX – Settings
In the settings menu, you can configure just about everything you would ever need to do. The settings span from general, audio, video, subtitle synchronization, economic mode to export option. Below are the snaps showing some of the available settings:

Splash PRO EX – Video Converter
SPE comes with an integrated audio/video converter. The converter has loads of predefined Output profiles to choose from. Once a profile is selected it auto populates Video/Audio parameters and shows the Output file size (as shown below).

The predefined profiles (100+) supports all popular formats, multimedia devices and websites for video uploading such as YouTube / Facebook and YouTube HD / Facebook HD.
It also provides an option to directly upload a video to either Facebook or YouTube.

Additionally, you can also play, upload or add to playlist the converted file.
Splash PRO EX – Picture² engine
Picture² is an advanced image post-processing engine which provides you the best video experience. It helps you to watch standard and high definition videos like never before. The Picture² encompasses following components (as shown in the image below):

Motion² – It incorporates an advanced video improvement algorithm. It brings you an amazingly smooth picture by recreating missing motion in 24p cinematic frame-rate content. All this happens with combined power of CPU and GPU. So make sure you have the requirements matching to experience perfect video quality (Full HD: Quad Core CPU + GPU, 720p: Dual Core CPU + GPU).
Light Boost – This component provides you a vivid and bright playback experience resulting from intelligent lighting and color enhancement. When combined with Detail Boost and Motion² it provides an outstanding video experience.
Detail Boost – This component provides you a sharp SD content output on HD display, and makes your HD videos look even better. It is powered by advanced image post-processing algorithms from Mirillis. When combined with Light Boost and Motion² it provides an outstanding video experience.
1080i to 1080p conversion – This component provides you a smooth video with 1080i to 1080p conversion, both for GPU hardware accelerated and software video decoding. This component is also available in free Splash Lite.
Motion Compensated Deinterlacing – This component provides you a hardware independent picture quality. It provides you sharp and clean videos even when your hardware does not support the latest advanced deinterlacing algorithms. This component is also available in free Splash Lite.
See below for the a snap showing effect of Picture² engine
(Notice the M for Motion² in the lower extreme left corner)

As you would have noticed how the right side of the above snap looks better. It is more clear, better visibility and sharpness. All this because of Splash effect!!
(The left snap is for the standard video with no adjustments what so ever.)
