Your new SATA drive might have come with a Drivers CD (or some media) though drivers are for the controllers and not the drive itself. Otherwise you would need to download the SATA XP drivers from your SATA Controller Manufacturer's support site. XP was born before SATA and does not include SATA drivers by default. These must be added to the system in order to use a SATA device in native mode. Some BIOS include a setting to make a SATA drive appear as a legacy PATA drive to be used with XP and other older OS. Check yours.

Thanks to all who tried to help. I have already installed Windows 7. Don't want to be engaged long with drivers for XP. Urgently need a working computer...
