Make sure it doesn't conflict with your current AV. I know BitDefender conflicts with it. I'm not sure about Kaspersky, F-Secure and ESET. The four free ones don't (Avast, Avira, Microsoft Security Essentials and AVG) Be sure and check. If it doesn't, this is the best 2nd line of defense in my opinion.

Anyway i am not very sure whether 2 realtime protections are actually required or not. If you are having something like ESET, Bitdefender, Kaspersky etc then i am sure you don't need realtime protection of MBAM. In that scenario free version of MBAM will be sufficient. I have kaspersky Internet Security 2012 and I am using MBAM free as an on-demand scanner and it works good for me .
