Media player for ubuntu
Since I'm relatively new to ubuntu, can you suggest a good media player for it? Perhaps somewhere along the likes of foobar for playing and managing audio and MPC home cinema for playing videos?

Some might suggest VLC for playing videos but sadly I've never been a fan of it on windows. I still prefer a spartan player like mpc-hc.

is a small an light music player concentrating on playback capabilities and aiming at desktop integration for the Gnome desktop. It is meant as an alternative to the all in one mediacenter applications, so you will not find video support or tag editing here.

I hope you will like one of them...

RE: Media player for ubuntu
I haven't tried those that you've mentioned yet. Tried Banshee but it couldn't read 95% of embedded album covers of my music library. Then while browsing the software center, I came across Exaile and might settle for that. It's simple, can read embedded covers and replaygain info and no problems so far. The only thing I'm missing now is CD Art display which I can live without.

As for a movie player, I downloaded and installed VLC. Still not accustomed to it but it'll have to do.

Xnoise looks promising though and I might give it a spin as well.
