I think SM you need to remove the delete option from general members account.
Explain why you think this. If I make a post and decide to delete it later on it should be my option.
I think if you need to remove something you can easily report it with the report button and any admin/mod can remove it for you. This delete option can easily be misused. And moreover this isn't anything out of the world we want to implement. All forums (general or tech) doesn't allow general members to remove his/her own posts/threads.
that's not a bad idea, i have also noticed this in other forums as well, usually the editing function is mantained
I have to agree with Mike.Lets say I post a comment and after reading that comment I made ...it sounds stupid or irrelevant to the topic, to save my self the embarrassment I would like to have that option to delete. Example...I made a comment on a post yesterday and then when I went back a few minutes later I realized the question I had asked was irrelevant to the post...Brainfart so to speak.
my own fault for skimming the post to quick. So if there was no option to delete my own post...well i would have been.....Blush
See that is one of the many features of Tipradar that I like...freedom and control (to a point) over what you post. Sure some other sites will not allow you to delete your own post and take away most of the visitors "freedoms" but having this option to delete (even if it is a small option) is what makes Tipradar stand out from the rest of the cookie cutter sites online. Just my 2 cents worth Dunno
I can understand your concerns RDC and mike. But as i have told you this feature can be misused so i think if implemented this will be better for the forum. Let it stay for sometime and if everything works well then we can remove senior member group from this restriction. Thumb
My 2 cents:

* allow editing
* disable deletion of post/thread by members.......

grr
The complex solution I've seen somewhere else, is limited time edit/remove, so that oopses can be dealt with, but posts provoking negative responses cannot be revised after looking at replies, or other things where a post can be deleted only if none follow, or the 1st post/thread can be deleted only if there are no posts after. Ah, maybe I have that wrong and it's the same "deleting post 1 deletes the thread", since any further posts may make no sense without the starting one - the same problem as removing a middle post when there are replies to it.

Is there a problem with people missusing the delete option or are you just trying to make the forum like all the others. In my opinion if it's not broke why try to fix it. I guess it's up to Mark and the mods on the final decision so I will have to deal with your decision.
What i think is: did we experience this problem? Or some1 of you reported/noticed a bad use of the delete/edit features?
If not i don't think is necessary to disable until we find a real misuse.
I also found in other forums they disable the thread deletion while leaving the editing functions on
