VSO ConvertXtoDVD 5 is converter that converts video files to DVD. This has an extensive support for many different formats from AVI, MKV, MOV, DIVX, MPEG, etc. You can easily create menus with videos and music, add chapters, cut unwanted parts of video and there’s many more you can do which adds some functionality that most does not even cover. This is one of the fastest Converter to DVD which tumbles the rest.

Installation is regular which starts off with language selection, welcome, license agreement, location, Video Standard (PAL or NTSC), and additional tools and then installation. When you start up VSO ConvertXtoDVD 5 it’ll ask you if you want to try the trial or enter your key after that you’ll come up with interface.

VSO ConvertXtoDVD 5 interface is simple and intuitive which gives you 2-3 sections depending on your selection. You have the file selection on left, the preview on right and if you select to view the log which will be on bottom. On file selection you can add or drag and drop with save, remove, merge, move, and view. After selection of video file you get more options on what you can do with video file.

The DVD options which gives you 16/26 counting 2 that has different options to each one for a different look when you start up your DVD on player which also you get to change or add the title name. The Menu options lets select if you want videos to auto-start, loop playback, don’t create a title menu for single video, play titles one after the other, skip root menu, and return to title menu after title set playback.

The options for each title set are changing the title menu which you can change name of tile which shows on top and video/image. You can change root menu parameters which you can change the audio and subtitle menu, chapter menu and resume play, then comes the chapters menu parameters which you can change default background and title text for chapter menu plus add background audio.

VSO ConvertXtoDVD 5 gives you a preview of the options and videos you have selected which gives you an easy to look and easy to view. You have to options to edit the video while previewing, you can edit the audio from video or if doing images you can add audio files to the video/images. The next stab gives you the options of adding subtitles or editing the subtitles.

VSO ConvertXtoDVD 5 gives you the chapters options which you can edit the timings of each chapter which default is 5 minutes each chapter which works great if you want it to start at a specific time or like to use skip buttons on remote when viewing DVD or trying to skip ahead if in case you had to restart playback. This is one feature that I see that benefits VSO which I’ve used many which you couldn’t add a chapter to video files which you couldn’t skip ahead without having to forward or restart if in case you hit the skip button by mistake.

The next editing tabs gives you the image settings which lets you edit the brightness and contrast and rotating video/image. Then you have the output which depending on type of screen you’ll be playing and if you want letterbox to show up with also a selection of the resolution you want. The last two lets you split the video or merge video files without the need to have another program do that editing for you.

VSO ConvertXtoDVD 5 has a high amount of supporting formats which gives you 38 video formats, 25 audio formats, and 8 subtitle formats. With the extensive supporting formats you won’t really have to worry about converting the videos/images and losing video/image quality.

VSO ConvertXtoDVD 5 has a log which depending if you select it or not you can see what it has done, how long it took to process a conversion, etc. Good way for those that like to track what it has done right on the main screen without having to open a log from file.

VSO ConvertXtoDVD 5 has a fast conversion rate which conversion takes on a video file which is 95 minutes long takes around 8 minutes to encode and 5 minutes to burn to DVD. A conversion with 3 video files, which 42 min. each were VSO includes a simultaneous conversion, comes to 9 minutes to encode and 5 minutes to burn to DVD. The conversion shows you a preview of where it is located and the info that was chosen.

VSO ConvertXtoDVD 5 settings is real thorough and can be set up to the way you want it to be. The general settings lets you add the working folder, theme selection, when updates are checked and what to display. The settings gives you the options for chapters which you can have it to create a chapter to what minutes you desire which 5 minutes is the default and when to add chapters depending on the video being longer than the minutes given or chosen which default is 15 minutes. If you have a folder which contains the Audio_TS and Video_TS Folders you can just burn folder from there if need which should only take the amount of time it took to burn the one it created.

The DVD Menu which lets you select default template, and what default options you want it. The encoding section has the options on the type of target size, the conversion process and log level while the video processing gives you the options of video resize method, filter for up scaling and downscaling and if to use hardware decoding.  Then you have the TV Format which contains the format, DVD resolution and aspect ratio. The burning tab has what info it’ll use to burn the files which you have the option to select where burn result to DVD or as ISO and if to delete working folder plus add the ISO file to drive when burning. The other two tabs is the defaults for subtitles and audio which you can select language and format.

Thoughts and Conclusion

VSO ConvertXtoDVD 5 is one of the best videos/images to DVD with many supported formats and an easy to use interface. Conversion and burning usually takes around 15 minutes and less than competitors which is great as no need to wait long to have it ready to be viewed. You have an array of options which having your playback play the way you want plus the only one I’ve seen that helps create chapters to video files which makes it easy to view the last part you were on without worrying to forward and be on the right place.
