Thus, ReFS was designed to replace NTFS rather than FAT. FAT has been and still remains the basic file system for removable storage devices of small capacity. NTFS has been repeatedly improved since its creation in the 90′s of last century – the last improvement was made in Windows 8 – and it is arguably still better than the Linux file systems such as ext3/4.
